CrossCountry Trains will be running an introduction to Train Planning course. It will demonstrate the skills and factors involved in timetabling, and planning for how they use their units and train crew to resource the timetable.
Train Planning is arguably the most important function for any Train Operating Company, as the timetable and resourcing plan provides the majority of revenue and costs. However, although important, Train Planning is poorly understood by the majority of the industry, and for some those timetables may as well have been created by witchcraft.
Of course, Andy Smith, Planning and Project Interface Manager for CrossCountry Trains, assures us that there is no magic involved.
But just to be sure, join us on the 28th June, to find out about the ‘black art’ of Train Planning: what planning delivers, and what the principles are behind timing trains and creating the resourcing plan for units and train crew. Andy, who has worked in Train Planning for 15 years, will be leading the talk and interactive exercises in the session.
