Although statistically Rail is still the safest form of transport, recent accidents have raised the awareness of the customer and approval authorities, to the need for improved Crash Safety of Rail vehicles. The main objective of rail interior passive safety is to minimise the risk of injury to all occupants in the event of an incident. The lecture will focus on the need for a realistic standard for Rail Passenger Rolling Stock interior passive safety requirements within the European market.
