This year Heathrow Express (HEx) are proud to support Rail Week by opening the doors to their Siemens Traincare Facility in Acton. This tour will give visitors the chance to hear from Stephen Head, HEx Head of Fleet Engineering and former Chair of Young Rail Professionals, and Aoife Considine, HEx Fleet Engineering Manager and former YRP Ambassadors Manager. There will also be an opportunity to see around the depot where the Class 332 and Class 360/2 trains are maintained and overhauled.
15:00 – 15:45: Presentation on HEx from Stephen Head & Aoife Considine
15:45 – 16:00: Q&A
16:00 – 16:50: Depot Tour (in groups of ~10)
16:50 – 17:00: Wrap up and Final Q&A
(The tour will take approximately 2 hours in total)
This tour is for over 18s only (due to depot Health & Safety)
Tickets are available at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/rail-week-heathrow-express-depot-tour-tickets-75637308225
Easiest way to get to the depot via public transport is via East Acton tube station (see map below). We do not offer visitor parking on site for this tour.
Once you get to the site entrance (see second photo), you will need to report to the gatehouse, marked with a red arrow. You must register for this event so as we can ensure your name is with security.
Visitors shall gather here and will be collected by a member of HEx staff. Please note: There is a lot of construction work happening on our site at the moment, so please be aware and stick to the green walking routes. Do not go anywhere unless you are accompanied by a member of Heathrow Express or Siemens staff.
If there are any issues, please call 078 5094 0095.
When you arrive to the depot, a safety briefing will be provided to make you aware of the risks and dangers on the depot. While you may have been to or worked in depots or similar environments before, every depot environment is different, so it is important you know the local risks, especially with moving trains and overhead line equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
All visitors will be required to wear;
( If you do not have safety footwear, please wear sturdy, closed toe shoes. There are certain areas of the depot you will not be able to go into without safety footwear but there will still be a lot to see!)
For the Safety Briefing and the Presentation, you are not required to wear safety equipment as this will be an office environment. Hi-Vis vests will be provided by HEx. Please note: There is a lot of construction work happening on our site at the moment, so please be aware and stick to the green walking routes. Do not go anywhere unless you are accompanied by a member of Heathrow Express or Siemens staff.
If there are any accidents, incident, or issues on the day, please report these immediately to a member of HEx or Siemens staff so as they can be escalated accordingly.
