Mind the Language Gap

Description

Mind the Language Gap is a full day cross-curricular challenge event for Years 10 and 11 showing how languages can open up exciting opportunities in a rail industry career. Teams of 6 with a common language in which to work (French, German or Spanish) will have tasks during the day based on real international rail industry scenarios which will also put engineering and technology into context. Students will have the opportunity to talk with international business people, STEM ambassadors and rail industry professionals with languages. Key note speaker will be Lucy Prior MBE from RTS Solutions. The day will also include a short language taster in Japanese, given the Japanese involvement in the rail industry. There will be a prize for the best team.
